How to Use a Whiskey Smoker
Safety:
Always use the smoker on a heat-resistant surface and keep your hands and face away from the flame. The natural charring that forms on the wooden smoker over time is normal and actually acts as a protective layer, helping preserve the wood and improving performance for future uses.
1. Prepare Your Glass and Smoker
Place an empty whiskey glass on a flat, stable surface. Set the smoker securely on top of the glass, making sure the hole in the bottom is over the glass.
2. Add the Wood Chips
Place a small pinch of your chosen wood chips—such as cherry, oak, apple, or hickory—into the smoker’s chamber. A small amount goes a long way.
3. Ignite the Wood Chips
Using a butane torch, apply a steady flame to the wood chips. Allow them to smolder and generate smoke; this usually takes 3–5 seconds. Avoid blowing on the chips, as this can scatter embers.
4. Infuse the Glass
Let the smoke fill the glass for 10–30 seconds, depending on how strong you want the flavor. Swirl the glass gently if you prefer a deeper infusion.
5. Pour and Enjoy
Once infused, remove the smoker top. Pour your whiskey into the smoked glass, give it a moment to mingle with the aroma, and enjoy the enhanced flavor profile.
